10 ways to join the Indian Army as an officer

1)National Defence Academy: NDA vacancies arrive for 300 candidates twice a year with 195 joining the Indian Army. An NDA aspirant should be between 16.5 years to 19.5 years in age with educational qualification of 10+2.


2)10+2 Tech Entry Scheme: This type of entry is through 85 vacancies twice a year. The applicants should be 16.5 to 19.5 years in age and 10+2 pass with 70% marks with Physics, Chemistry, Maths (PCM).

3)Indian Military Academy (Non-Tech): The Indian Army recruits 250 candidates twice a year. Applicants should be between 19 and 24 years and a graduate from a recognised university.


4)Short Service Commission (Non-Tech): There are 175 vacancies per course twice a year with applicants needing to be aged between 19 and 25 years and a graduate from a recognised university.


5)Short Service Commission (Tech Men & Women): There are 50 vacancies per course twice a year with the age requirement between 19 and 27 years and educational qualification of BE/BTech stream of Engineering/B. Arch, MSC Computer.


6)NCC Special (Men & Women): With 50 vacancies per course twice a year, NCC Special age criteria is 19 to 25 years with education qualification of graduation with LLB / LLM with 50% aggregate marks and 2 years of service in National Cadet Corps (NCC) Senior Division Army with minimum 'B' Grade in 'C' Certificate Exam.

7)TGC Education (AEC): The Technical Graduate Course for Army Education Corps Entry requires applicants to be between 23 to 27 years and have an MA / MSC in 1st or 2nd division in notified subjects from recognised university.


8)Universal Entry Scheme (UES): For this entry with 60 vacancies per course, candidates have to be 19 to 25 years for Final Year and 18 to 24 years for Pre-Final Year for students in Engineering Degree Course.

9)TGC (Engineers): The Indian Army comes out with vacancies as notified, twice a year for aspirants between 21 and 27 years with BE / B. Tech in notified streams of Engineering/ B. Arch, MSc computer.


10)JAG (Men & Women): The Judge Advocate General entry requires applicants to be between 21 and 27 years of age and Law Graduate (LLB) with 55% marks and registered with Bar Council of India/ State.
